One way we get through the winter months is watching a television series. We watched "24" and "Gray's Anatomy" on DVD first, for instance. I think one year we did "Prison Break." Right now, one of my sons has gotten us into "Battlestar Galactica." At first, BG seemed somewhat silly and adolescent, but now I admit I love it. The way that the main characters are played is archetypally meaningful to me, and I particularly love that they have a female president of the colonies (she's wonderful). We're going to run out of episodes soon, and I have nothing to watch. Like you, I don't want to watch live TV if I can avoid it! There are a couple of effects they use which might bug you at first but they've now found a balance with them. I've never been in a "real lab" but it looks believable to me. CSI is like watching the same show over and over again. As for why you hadn't heard about it, it's a bit of a dark horse. It was only syndicated to the US this year, and initially we were downloading it from Italian cable. Thank goodness for my rudimentary Italian because there are some bits of dialogue which are translated in subtitles. Our subtitles weren't in English! You’ll like it.
